Finger Lakes Pet Resort provides professional puppy training convenient to the Rochester and Finger Lakes region at our facility in Farmington, NY.

Puppy Pre-K - Level 1

ages 9 weeks to 16 weeks

What is this class?

Foundation training for young puppies that includes socialization exercises to create a confident, connected and happy pet dog.

Who is it for?

Puppies ages 9 weeks to 16 weeks.

What do I need?

Puppies need to have their first Distemper combo (DHPP) vaccination a minimum of one week prior to orientation. We strongly recommend that your puppy have the Bordatella (Kennel Cough) vaccine. Your puppy must also have lived in the household for 7 days prior to orientation.

How long does it run?

6 weeks - the first class is an orientation class. 1-hour classes.

Schedule

  • Step One: Orientation (one time only)
    Sundays at 3:30pm (no class 5/12, 5/26 & 6/16)
  • Step Two: Weekly Class (5 consecutive weeks)
    • Tuesdays at 6pm (No class 4/23/19)
    • Tuesdays 7pm (No class 4/23/19)
    • Sundays at 2:15pm (no class 5/12, 5/26 & 6/16) FULL through mid-May

Rolling enrollment classes are accepting new pups, as space is available. Your orientation trainer will help you choose a class time.

Puppy - Level 2

ages 16 weeks to 8 months

What is the class?

This for graduates of our Puppy Pre-K class. Unlike other level 2 classes, this class focuses on the needs of your adolescent pup. This is the next step to progressing your puppy's obedience skills.

Who is it for?

Puppies 16 weeks to 8 months of age who have completed Puppy Pre-K or an equivalent course.

How long does it run?

6 consecutive weeks

Class Goals

  • Continue to socialize your puppy
  • Impulse control for adolescent pups
  • House manners
  • Increasing duration, distance and distraction
  • Build reliability
  • Obedience training (stays, distance recalls, heeling, focus, leave it, etc.)

Schedule

Sundays at 12:00pm (no class 5/12, 5/26 & 6/16)
Sundays at 1:00pm (no class 5/12, 5/26 & 6/16)
Rolling enrollment classes are always accepting new pups, as space allows.

Puppy - Level 3

ages 20 weeks to 12 months

What is the class?

This for graduates of our Puppy Level 2 class. This is the next step in progressing your puppy's confidence, connection and coordination skills.

Who is it for?

Puppies 20 weeks to 12 months of age who have completed Puppy Level 2 or an equivalent course.

How long does it run?

4 weeks - see schedule for dates

Class Goals

  • Continue to socialize your puppy to environmental distractions
  • Build coordination and connection on a variety of surfaces
  • Practice on leash and off leash connection with you
  • Increase duration, distance and distraction
  • Obedience training (stays, distance recalls, heeling, focus, leave it, etc.)

Important Information for all Puppy Training classes

You must have your vet fax your dog’s most recent vaccination records or bring a copy to the first class. We do accept proof of titer tests in lieu of vaccinations. Talk with your vet to determine the best vaccine protocol for your dog. Our fax number is (585) 924-0209.

Behaviors NOT acceptable for a class setting are: Dog aggression, aggression towards people, obsessive barking and unmanageable leash pulling.  If your dog displays any of these behaviors, please contact us to discuss the best option for you and your dog.

  • We do not offer make-ups for missed classes.
  • We do not offer refunds for classes or private lessons.
  • Private lesson packages expire 6-months from purchase date.

 

Proof of current vaccinations is required for all training classes and playtimes. Proof of Bordatella/Kennel Cough vaccine is additionally required for Daycare, Lodging & Grooming services.

Supplies to bring to class

  • Your dog and family members
  • Proof of current vaccinations (distemper & rabies are required, bordatella/kennel cough is strongly recommended)
  • About 100 small soft stinky treats (think: meat, cheese, hot dog - cut up into pea-sized pieces)
  • Treat pouch
  • 6ft leash and collar
  • Your dog’s favorite toy
  • Stuffed Kong or bone
  • A towel, blanket, mat or carpet square for your dog to rest on
